Pick up points for ferry crossings and trips are marked by feather flags on Llansteffan and Ferryside beaches. Glansteffan is an open boat, with an awning to the sides and roof to protect passengers from wind and rain but is unheated. Passengers need to ensure they have sufficient and suitable clothing to keep themselves warm and dry as the breeze can pick up crossing the estuary, even on sunny days, and especially so on longer trips.
There is functional, and mostly partly padded seating for 10 passengers and it is advised to remain seated during crossings. Glansteffan is accessed by open tread aluminium steps with two handrails.
No refreshments are available on board, but passengers are welcome to bring their own. There are no toilet facilities aboard Glansteffan, but there are public toilets just before the railway crossing to the foreshore in Ferryside, and at the edge of the public beach carpark in Llansteffan.
Passenger safety is our priority. The vessel is fully equipped with the required safety features and all passengers are provided with, and must wear a lifejacket at all times. The crew are on hand to welcome you aboard, and will help with donning the lifejackets. Once seated there will be a short safety briefing announcement. This is also available in printed and Braille versions.
